Why promising mining opportunities fail to become successful investments
Many promising mining investments stall before implementation. These challenges increase investment risk before projects even commence
- Gaps in Understanding and Trust Between Chinese investors, African governments and project owners.
- Perceptions of Complexity and Risk African mining jurisdictions may be seen as high risk, while governments may question investors’ understanding of and commitment to compliance.
- Poor Advice and Misinformation Reinforced by the absence of trusted intermediaries who understand both sides.
- Navigating Regulatory Requirements Mining legislation, licensing, environmental requirements, labour obligations and stakeholder engagement can be difficult to navigate.
- Lack of Structured Coordination Governments, investors and project owners can have different expectations, timelines and interpretations of what is required.
Investment is the catalyst. Successful implementation is the destination.
The true value of a mining investment is not determined when capital enters a country. It is realised when investment is successfully implemented.

- 10 or more: 12%
- Government, embassy-recommended and strategic-country delegations: case-by-case Council or Executive Committee approval

Equivalent alternatives, online benefits or credit toward the next summit are discussed before any refund.
Which currency do I pay in, and are taxes included?
All US-dollar prices are recommended figures exclusive of tax. Invoicing, VAT or other taxes, withholding, cross-border bank charges and exchange-rate rules are determined by the final contracting and receiving entity under applicable law. RMB settlement uses the designated bank's spot selling rate on the invoice date or agreed contract date, locked in the quotation.
Institutional participation in the Organising Committee
Can I buy a seat on the Organising Committee?
No. Governance office is not a saleable asset. Payment, sponsorship or in-kind support does not automatically confer eligibility as chairperson, vice-chairperson, standing member, member, speaker, government-endorsed party or recommended project.
Institutional tiers such as Chair Institution and Standing Member Institution may be used externally, but the representative remains subject to eligibility review and appointment. If an application is not approved, the contribution is converted into sponsorship benefits of equivalent value or refunded after deduction of agreed, incurred and non-refundable costs.
What institutional tiers are there?
- Co-host / Chair Institution · US$80,000On request · max 4
- Vice-Chair Institution · US$50,000On request · max 6

Does institutional participation include speaking rights?

The programme is proposed by the Programme & Compliance Working Group on relevance, expertise, representation, China–Africa balance and content quality, and approved by the Executive Committee. Regulatory conclusions, government positions and project endorsements are not for sale.
What can an individual member do, and not do?
- One named, non-transferable membership with one full summit delegate pass
- Portal services for one project only, held in the member's own name under the relevant prospecting, exploration or mineral rights, subject to verification

- Environmental and community risks
- Funding needs
- Proof of authority to sell or raise finance
What happens after I submit?

Verified projects can be matched year-round with investors who have recorded their funding criteria, capital availability and countries of interest.
Does selection mean CAMIC endorses my project?
No. Selection means only that the presentation threshold has been met. Selection is not a CAMIC warranty of authenticity, bankability, valuation, return or compliance. Neither CAMIC nor any member, partner or sponsor may promise, in CAMIC's name, successful financing, government approval, grant of mineral rights, project returns or visa issuance.
What does the project roadshow and structured matching cost?

Do institutional and sponsorship benefits stack?
Institutional contributions from Chair through Member tiers already include the listed passes and exhibition benefits and do not accumulate with equivalent sponsorship benefits. Where standalone sponsorship is also purchased, the Secretariat may contractually convert duplicate benefits into additional passes, space, publicity or matching services, ordinarily without a direct cash discount.
Can I sponsor in kind?
Yes. In-kind venue, airline, hotel, interpretation, media, technology and transport support may offset up to 40% of the relevant tier contribution at verifiable fair market value; a supplier list price is not credited in full automatically.
How do I enquire?
Is there a sponsorship prospectus?

Privacy policy (PIPL / POPIA / GDPR)
- Version
- 1.0 draft · 23 September 2026Effective date pending legal review
- Controller
- CAMIC 2027 Organising Committee, acting through its Executive SecretariatPersonal information handler under PIPL, responsible party under POPIA, controller under GDPR. Legal entity, registered address and registration details: TBC
- Contact
- Privacy email: TBCContact form
1. Scope and applicable law
This policy explains how the Committee handles personal information collected through this website: summit registration, project submission (including licences and uploaded documents), institutional membership application, sponsor enquiry and prospectus request, the contact form, the newsletter, and information generated automatically while you browse.
- Individuals in mainland China: the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL)
- South Africa: the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
- Visitors in the EU / EEA: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Where these laws differ on the same point, the rule that protects you more applies. The PeakPoint portal linked from this site is a separate service with its own privacy policy.
2. What we collect
| Form | Information collected |
|---|---|
| Registration | Participant type, pass and add-ons; name, organisation, role, email, phone, country; delegation size and ministry (governments and embassies); project name (project owners); visa, hotel and matching requests; passport name, nationality and passport number when you ask for a visa invitation letter |
| Project submission | Relationship to the project; company and contact details, role, email, phone, country; project name, commodity, country, stage, area, resource and summary; licence and compliance information (mineral-right status, licence number and expiry, key permits, B-BBEE / localisation, environmental and community risks, funding needs, authority to sell or raise finance); uploaded files; funding need and partner type; whether investors are already engaged; roadshow preference |
| Membership application | Tier; organisation name, type, country and website (individual members: country of the mineral right, project name and type of right); representative name, role, email, phone; eligibility declarations; disclosed interests; intended uses and working-group nomination |
| Sponsor enquiry / prospectus | Organisation, contact, email, phone, tier of interest, budget range, message; the prospectus request collects only an email address |
| Contact | Name, organisation, email, topic, message |
| Newsletter | Email address |
| Recorded with every submission | IP address, browser user agent, page URL, interface language, time, reference number and processing status; an anti-abuse count of submissions (IP, form type, time) |
We do not seek sensitive personal information. Passport details are sensitive personal information; they are collected only when you request a visa invitation letter and used only for that purpose.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Processing your registration, application, project submission or enquiry and contacting you about it — performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before one (GDPR art. 6(1)(b); PIPL art. 13(2); POPIA s 11(1)(b))
- Project screening, verification and investor matching — your consent (the form checkbox) and the Committee's legitimate interest in running the summit and the year-round platform
- Visa invitation letters and official protocol arrangements — your separate consent
- Sending summit updates — your consent, withdrawable at any time
- Security and abuse prevention (honeypot, rate limiting, logs) and website statistics — the Committee's legitimate interest; cookie-based statistics only with your consent
- Compliance with legal obligations, including sanctions, anti-bribery and regulatory requirements
We make no decisions with legal effect based solely on automated processing; project screening is carried out by people.
4. Who receives it
- The CAMIC 2027 Organising Committee and its Executive Secretariat (Peakpoint Advisory) — only the teams handling your matter
- Verification partners — legal, technical and compliance advisers who take part in project screening under confidentiality obligations
- Service providers — website hosting and delivery: Cloudflare (global) and Alibaba Cloud (China route); database and file storage: Supabase (Singapore); email delivery provider (to be confirmed); web statistics: Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless) and Baidu Tongji (with consent)
- Governments and embassies — only when you request a visa invitation letter or official protocol arrangements, and only to that extent
- Regulators, courts or law-enforcement authorities — where required by law
We do not sell personal information. Delegate lists and contact details are not supplied to third parties without authority. Project details are never published; they reach investors only through the Committee's structured matching, after screening.
5. Cross-border transfer and separate consent
Information submitted through this website is stored on Supabase servers in Singapore and accessed by Committee teams in South Africa and China. For individuals in mainland China this means your personal information is transferred outside the People's Republic of China.
- Overseas recipient
- CAMIC 2027 Organising Committee and its Executive Secretariat (South Africa); storage provider Supabase (Singapore)Recipient contact: TBC
- Purpose and method
- The purposes in section 3; encrypted transfer (HTTPS) into an access-controlled database and private file storage
- Types of information
- The information listed in section 2 for that form, including uploaded files and, if you ask for a visa letter, passport details
- How consent is given
- The checkbox at the end of each form is the separate consent required by PIPL art. 39; for the newsletter, submitting your email address in the footer is the consent
- Withdrawal
- At any time through the channels in section 7; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out on the basis of consent
For visitors in the EU / EEA, transfers outside the EEA rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or another mechanism recognised under Chapter V of the GDPR (pending legal review). For South African data subjects, cross-border transfers rely on POPIA s 72: the recipient is bound by substantially similar protection, or you have consented.
6. Retention
The periods below are recommended and pending legal review: TBC
- Registrations, project submissions, membership applications and uploaded files: 24 months after the summit closes; where a contract exists, for the contract term plus the retention period required by applicable law
- Sponsor enquiries and contact messages: 24 months after the last contact
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe
- Anti-abuse logs (IP, form type, time): short term, period to be confirmed
- Records of consent: for as long as the processing continues and for the limitation period that follows
At the end of the period the information is deleted or anonymised, unless the law requires longer retention.
7. Your rights and how to exercise them
- Access your information, obtain a copy and know how it is handled
- Correct or complete inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion, and under the GDPR restriction of processing, objection and data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time, including consent to cross-border transfer and to statistics cookies
- Receive reasons if a request is declined
Email the privacy address TBCor use the contact form. We may need to verify your identity, and we respond within the period set by the applicable law (one month under the GDPR, extendable for complex requests).
You may also complain to a supervisory authority: the Information Regulator (South Africa); the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and its local offices; the data protection authority of your EU member state.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS throughout. Submitted information is written to a database with row-level security and no anonymous access; uploaded files go to a private storage bucket through single-use signed upload links; only authorised Secretariat staff can read them. Forms use a honeypot and rate limiting to block automated abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if a breach is likely to affect your rights, we notify you and the regulator as the applicable law requires.
9. Children
This website is for professionals and institutions and is not directed at anyone under 18; we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we hold a minor's information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the new version number and date appear on this page; material changes to purposes, methods or types of information are flagged prominently, and consent is sought again where the law requires it.
Terms of use and commercial rules
These terms apply to access to and use of this website, and to registrations, project submissions, applications and enquiries made through it. External benefits are governed by formal agreements signed by the parties; these terms do not replace a formal commercial agreement.

1. Using this website
By using camicsummit.com or submitting any form you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. Content is provided by the CAMIC 2027 Organising Committee to describe the summit and the year-round platform. Programme, speakers, venue, dates and prices may change; anything marked TBC is not yet confirmed.
2. No advice, no offer
Nothing on this site is investment, legal, tax, technical or regulatory advice, or an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security, mineral right or project interest. Projects presented at the summit or on this site are introductions only; commission your own independent due diligence before any commitment.
3. Submissions: your warranties
When you register, submit a project, apply for membership or send an enquiry, you warrant that:
- You are authorised to submit the information and documents, including on behalf of the organisation named and of any person whose details you include
- The information is accurate, complete and not misleading, and you will tell us of material changes
- Documents are genuine, and you hold or are permitted to share the mineral rights, permits and data described
- The submission does not breach confidentiality, sanctions or anti-bribery rules
The Committee may decline, hold or withdraw any submission without giving reasons and without liability.
4. No guarantee of financing, approval or return
Participation, sponsorship, exhibition, roadshows, meeting arrangements and project-verification services do not constitute investment advice, legal advice, confirmation of mineral rights, valuation opinion, financing commitment or transaction guarantee. Investors and project owners must commission independent legal, technical, financial, tax, environmental and sanctions-compliance due diligence.
Selection of a project means only that the presentation threshold has been met; it is not a CAMIC warranty of authenticity, bankability, valuation, return or compliance. No member, partner or sponsor may promise, in CAMIC's name, government approval, grant of mineral rights, successful financing, project returns, visa issuance or any other result determined by a third party.
5. Intellectual property
The CAMIC name, logo, summit theme, website design, texts, images, document templates, programme content, project-verification methods and databases are owned by or licensed to the Organising Committee. You may view and print pages for your own use; any other reproduction, co-branding or public use needs the Executive Secretariat's written approval (see section 17). You keep all rights in what you submit and grant the Committee a non-exclusive licence to store, review and translate it, and to share it with verification partners and, with your agreement, with investors, for screening and matching.
6. Third-party links and availability
The PeakPoint portal and other linked sites are operated separately under their own terms. We do not guarantee that this site is uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or withdraw content at any time. Terms for an account area on this site, if introduced: TBC
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Committee, its members, Secretariat and advisers are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit or loss of opportunity arising from use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Governing law and disputes
Governing law and forum for these website terms: TBC (settled together with the contracting entity). Disputes involving contractual payment, intellectual property, loss or third-party rights are handled under the governing-law, jurisdiction or arbitration provisions of the relevant contract (Charter, art. 21). Neither this site nor the Charter replaces a formal commercial agreement.
9. Quotation validity
Formal quotations are ordinarily valid for 15 days. Early-bird eligibility requires a signed agreement and receipt of the initial payment before the deadline, not merely submission of an application.
10. Payment milestones
- Institutional contributions, sponsorships and exhibition space: a 50% non-refundable initial payment within seven business days after signature, with the balance due 60 days before opening
- Agreements signed within 60 days before opening: ordinarily paid in full
- Individual passes: payable in full upon registration
11. Taxes and exchange rates
All US-dollar prices are recommended figures exclusive of tax. Invoicing, VAT or other taxes, withholding, cross-border bank charges and exchange-rate rules are determined by the final contracting and receiving entity under applicable law. RMB settlement uses the designated bank's spot selling rate on the invoice date or agreed contract date, and that rate is locked in the quotation.
12. Cancellation and refunds
- Delegate cancellations more than 90 days before opening: 70% refund
- Cancellations 60–89 days before opening: 40% refund
- Less than 60 days before opening: ordinarily non-refundable, with one free name substitution permitted up to 15 days before opening
- Initial sponsorship and exhibition payments reserve scarce benefits and are ordinarily non-refundable
- If CAMIC cancels without rescheduling or providing equivalent benefits, the balance is refunded after deduction of third-party non-recoverable costs agreed in writing
13. Postponement and force majeure
If postponed due to government measures, public safety, natural disaster, major public-health events, venue unavailability or other events reasonably beyond control, payments ordinarily transfer automatically to the new date. The parties first discuss equivalent alternatives, online benefits or credit toward the next summit before refunds. The contract governs the specific arrangement.
14. Changes to benefits
Guests, government representatives, programme, venue and event flow may change because of approvals, security, availability or professional judgement. The Committee may provide benefits of equivalent value. Absence of a particular official or investor is not, by itself, a ground for sponsor refund unless the contract expressly makes attendance a condition precedent.
15. Governance office is not for sale
Payment, sponsorship or institutional participation does not by itself confer a chair, vice-chair, speaking role or government endorsement; representatives remain subject to eligibility review and appointment. Speaking rights are a right to nominate a speaker, subject to programme approval.
16. Commissions and channels
Any sponsorship commission, referral fee or channel fee requires prior written approval, must reflect genuine services, be calculated on net funds actually received and remain traceable in the client contract and internal register. Introductions involving government, state-owned enterprises, public funds or conflicts of interest require enhanced review.
17. Brand and publicity
Without the Secretariat's written approval, no person may issue statements, raise funds, promise cooperation, create co-branded material or imply government or summit endorsement in CAMIC's name. Sponsor-logo use is limited to the media, term, size and approval process stated in contract. Ownership and licensing of the CAMIC name, logo, themes, document templates, programme content, project-verification methods and databases are confirmed separately in writing.
18. Data and confidentiality
Committee members owe confidentiality duties regarding non-public government communications, project materials, investor information, commercial terms, quotations, personal information and meeting discussions. Press releases, media interviews and material social-media posts require coordinated review by the Communications Group and Secretariat. Delegate lists and contact details are not sold or supplied to third parties without authority. Personal information is handled as set out in the Privacy Policy.
19. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the new version number and date appear on this page. Signed agreements remain governed by the terms in force when they were signed, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

2. Statistics

|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Nothing: no cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting; page views are measured in aggregate | On every visit once enabled by the Committee, without consent, because it stores nothing on your device |
| Baidu Tongji (百度统计) | First-party cookies Hm_lvt_… (about one year) and Hm_lpvt_… (session) on this site, plus Baidu's own HMACCOUNT cookie on hm.baidu.com | Only after you choose Accept all and only once enabled by the Committee; Essential only stops it loading and removes its cookies on this site |
The Status now line above shows whether either tool is switched on at this moment.
3. Managing your choice
- Banner: Accept all enables statistics cookies; Essential only keeps just the entries in section 1
- Footer: Cookie settings reopens the banner at any time
- Browser: you can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings; the language choice and reference numbers are then forgotten
Your choice is kept in camic-consent on this device only; it is not sent to us. Withdrawing consent takes effect immediately for pages opened afterwards.
